UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA Vancouver, British Columbia

Only 30 minutes from the heart of downtown Vancouver, the University of British Columbia holds an international reputation for excellence in advanced research and learning. As the premiere school on the West coast, UBC offers vibrant student life: the annual Shrum Bowl, a football game against rival Simon Fraser University, the Great Pep Rally in September, many activist student groups, and progressive student media. UBC ranks in the top 10 North American universities in commercializing research and for its patent activity in the Life Sciences. The university also boasts some of Vancouver's best attractions and recreation facilities, including the Museum of Anthropology, the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, the UBC Botanical Garden and Centre for Plant Research, and endless opportunities to explore forested trails in the adjoining 763-hectare Pacific Spirit Regional Park.

Ubyssey
Ubyssey Circulation: 12,000

“Ubyssey” is an easy word to pronounce – it’s “U-B-C.” The Ubyssey is the definitive source of news at the University of British Columbia and the publication of choice for advertisers looking to reach the main student body at UBC. Published every Monday and Thursday, it is the largest student paper in Western Canada and a favourite source of news for the Canadian University Press news wire. Canadian greats like Pierre Berton and Allan Fotheringham started their careers at The Ubyssey. There are other undergraduate publications at UBC, but the Ubyssey gets the widest readership.

Graduate Magazine
The Graduate Circulation: 6,000

Since 1976, the Graduate has provided graduate students at UBC with news and information about the grad society and its political, social, and academic activities. The editors recognize that graduate student publications don’t have to be boring. The wide variety of discussion and humour has garnered The Graduate a readership that extends into the undergraduate ranks. To get total coverage of UBC’s enormous student population, pair the Graduate with its older sister, the Ubyssey, the main undergraduate pub.
